Nanotechnology (or Nanoscience), is science, engineering and technology that is carried out on the nano scale. Although this is said to be between 1 to 100 nanometers, some suggest this may not be 100% accurate as it would exclude numerous materials and devices from being described as nanotechnology.[1]

OriginsПравить

The origins of Nanotechnology date back to 1959, when Richard Feynman presented a talk called "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom".[2] In this talk, Feynman described a process in which scientists would be able to manipulate and control individual atoms and molecules.[3]

In TranshumanismПравить

Nanotechnology could have a major impact on a variety of different areas including; Everyday materials, electronics and IT, sustainable energy, the environment, medical and health, and transportation.[4] Not to mention possibly the only way cryonics revival might be possible.

In an interview with Computerworld in 2009, author and futurist Ray Kurzweil said that anyone alive come 2040 or 2050 could be close to immortal. The quickening advance of nanotechnology means that the human condition will shift into more of a collaboration of man and machine, as nanobots flow through human blood streams and eventually even replace biological blood, he added.[5]
