- August 12 – CI-69, the first vitrification patient of the Cryonics Institute, legally dies and is cryopreserved.
- August 15 – A-2071 legally dies and becomes the first person vitrified with M22.
- October 13 – A-1598 legally dies and becomes the first neuropreservation patient vitrified with M22.
- November 5 – The Scientists' Open Letter on Cryonics is unveiled by the Immortality Institute at the Life Extension Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
