A number of events regarding cryonics occurred in 2005.

Events

• August 12 – CI-69, the first vitrification patient of the Cryonics Institute, legally dies and is cryopreserved.
• August 15 – A-2071 legally dies and becomes the first person vitrified with M22.
• October 13 – A-1598 legally dies and becomes the first neuropreservation patient vitrified with M22.
• November 5 – The Scientists' Open Letter on Cryonics is unveiled by the Immortality Institute at the Life Extension Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, United States.
