A number of events regarding cryonics occurred in 2006.

- January 19 – Thomas K. Donaldson legally dies and is cryopreserved by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation.
- February 6 – Anita Riskin legally dies and is cryopreserved by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation.
- May 14 – The German Society for Applied Biostasis is founded.
- September – The Immortalist magazine changes its name to Long Life.
- October 6–8 – The 6th Alcor Conference is held.
