• Elaine Ettinger, the first wife of Robert Ettinger, legally dies and is cryopreserved by the Cryonics Institute.
• The Cryonics Society of Canada is founded.
• The Cryonics Institute begins using liquid nitrogen instead of dry ice in the long-term care of cryonics patients.
