  • September 12 – Mike Darwin becomes the president of the Alcor Life Extension Foundation.
  • September 15 – The Society for Cryobiology's new bylaws take effect, denying membership and allowing expulsion of any existing member who engages in or promotes "any practice or application of freezing deceased persons in anticipation of their reanimation".
  • December (possibly) – The cryonics pioneer Evan Cooper is lost in the Atlantic Ocean.
