Automata
Automata is a 2014 Spanish-Bulgarian science fiction movie starring Antonio Banderas. The movie was directed by Gabe Ibáñez.
Plot
In 2044, the Earth has been transformed into a radioactive desert, and what is left of the Human race has become largely dependant on robots. The robots were created in order to help rebuild and protect humans, but when an agent (Banderas) discovers one of the robots disobeying one of its primary directives, it could have profound consequences.
Transhumanist Elements
There are AI and Consciousness elements to the film. The robot part of the plot is largely based on Asimov's 3 laws of robotics, but with a slight twist; "instead of Asimov's three laws, we've given them just two laws: 1) They can't harm a human. 2) They can't repair or upgrade themselves." [1]
