Technophilia refers to a strong enthusiasm towards technology,[1] especially new or emerging technologies. It stands in opposition to technoconservatism or technophobia. There is a more complex relationship with technoscepticism.
In transhumanism[править]
Many transhumanists are technophiles to one degree or another,[2] but the integration of ethical frameworks around technologies marks a divergence from transhumanist being an exclusive subset of technophiles.[3] Examples of such differences include:
- AI Risk advocacy
- Concerns about a post privacy society
- Concerns about unequal distribution of technologies
- Concerns about the possibilities of government overreach through such technologies
As a pejorative[править]
Similar to the term audiophile,[4][5] technophile has similar connections with techno-optimism or technological utopianism, implying over optimism, inevitablism and lack of critical analysis. This can go as far as seeing transhumanism as a religion.
Examples of technophiles[править]
- Grinders
- Body modification enthusiasts
