Technophilia

Technophilia refers to a strong enthusiasm towards technology, especially new or emerging technologies. It stands in opposition to technoconservatism or technophobia. There is a more complex relationship with technoscepticism.

In transhumanism

Many transhumanists are technophiles to one degree or another, but the integration of ethical frameworks around technologies marks a divergence from transhumanist being an exclusive subset of technophiles. Examples of such differences include:

• AI Risk advocacy
• Concerns about a post privacy society
• Concerns about unequal distribution of technologies
• Concerns about the possibilities of government overreach through such technologies

As a pejorative

Similar to the term audiophile, technophile has similar connections with techno-optimism or technological utopianism, implying over optimism, inevitablism and lack of critical analysis. This can go as far as seeing transhumanism as a religion.
