−196 is a 2014 Russian drama film written and directed by Anna Arlanova.[1] The film follows a young man's desperate effort to have her grandmother cryopreserved. The film was made in cooperation with KrioRus, and its name refers to the Celsius temperature of liquid nitrogen.
The film's length is about 50 minutes. Arlanova released it on her Vimeo channel, but deleted it in 2021 or the early 2022.
Plot summary
Short on resources but rich in feeling, lapsed physics student Mitya is determined to save the life of his ailing, beloved grandmother. Upon her demise, the devoted grandson goes to any lengths to have her cryogenically preserved, despite the uninformed protestations of family members and society at-large.[1]
