Hal Finney
Harold Thomas Finney II (May 4, 1956 – legal death August 28, 2014) was an American computer scientist. A cryptographer, he was a developer for PGP Corporation, and was the second developer hired after Phil Zimmermann. In his early career, Finney was credited as lead developer on several console games. He also was an early bitcoin contributor and received the first bitcoin transaction from bitcoin's pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto.
Finney had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2009.[1] In August 2014, he was cryopreserved by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation, having been a member for over 20 years.[2] His Alcor identifier is A-1436.[2] The Hal Finney Cryonics Research Fund is named in his honor.
