Dune is a 1984 science fiction/fantasy film directed by David Lynch.
The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert.
Plot[править]
Dune is the story of a territorial war over an extremely rare and valuable hallucinogenic nootropic, the "spice melange," found only on the desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. Among other uses, the spice is key to interstellar space travel.
Transhumanist Elements[править]
"Melange" or "Spice" is the key element relating to transhumanism. The effects of Spice Melange include enhanced longevity, heightened consciousness and mind expansion, greater intelligence as a nootropic, and telekinetic capabilities including "travel without moving" between distant places via the folding of spacetime.
Future[править]
Dune would later be adapted into a three-part TV mini-series called Frank Herbert's Dune that was released in 2000. Frank Herbert's Dune was followed by another TV mini-series entitled Frank Herbert's Children of Dune.
In 2016, it was announced that Legendary Entertainment had acquired the rights to Dune for both film and TV series: "Legendary and the Frank Herbert estate have reached an agreement which includes both the film and television motion picture rights to the classic sci-fi novel Dune. The agreement allows Legendary and Universal Pictures to develop film and television projects based on the franchise for a global audience."[1]
In February 2017 it was also announced that Denis Villeneuve, who directed Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049, has signed on to direct a new adaptation of Dune.[2]
