She legally died of heart failure on January 13, 2021.<ref name="Mind" /> She was [[Straight freeze|straight frozen]] in [[dry ice]], because a [[Cryoprotective|cryoprotective]] [[perfusion]] could not be arranged. She was kept in dry ice at a funeral home in Oslo, Norway until transportation arrangements could be made.
