Lucas Vonne has it all: classic good looks, extravagant houses, a plethora of automobiles, and more money than he knows what to do with. He is the quintessential affluent New York City bachelor. The world is his oyster.

And then, his entire world crumbles. A terminal cancer diagnosis sends him into a tailspin, fueled by alcohol, drugs, and depression. Money buys everything, but it can’t save your life.

Dr. Menos Vulgatis, a clinician from Slovakia, believes that it can. He offers Lucas a chance to survive, directly out of a science fiction novel. With the power of cryonics, Dr. Vulgatis will freeze Lucas until a cure can be found, an unknown number of years in the future.

But is the doctor on the level? Are his farfetched ideas of cryonics and stasis possible? Or is he planning a devious scheme, a monster driven by greed?

Throughout “The Cryonic,” Lucas meets several people who alter his perceptions on life. Tabitha, Dr. Vulgatis’s assistant, offers Lucas the chance to truly experience love. Jozef, Lucas’s driver and confidant, comforts him and offers him hope for the future. And Father Boris, the leader of a small church on the Danube, teaches Lucas about vengeance and revenge.
